Exchanging contact details with someone is a notoriously annoying process. It normally involves rummaging around for business cards, frantically trying to remember your own phone number, or asking passers by for a pen so you can write a number on your hand (which will have worn off by the time you get home anyway).

Thanks to Bump these days could soon be behind us. This innovative app (which, incidentally holds the record of the billionth app downloaded from the App Store) allows you to exchange contact information simply by bumping into another iPhone.

Before you can do anything on Bump, you need to configure Bump to tell it which contact information you'd like to share. You can select to include your phone number, email address, profile photo, and address, or a combination of these.

Once you've done this, you're ready to bump. Simply hold your iPhone and get the other person to hold theirs, then just bump your hands together gently. The phones will then connect with each other and the contact details will be transferred between devices. It's that simple with Bump.

You can also use the 'Other files' button on Bump to attach photos and 'bump' them to the other person. Unfortunately it only works with contacts and pictures at the moment, but hopefully one day we'll all be exchanging music, documents, videos and other files through Bump.

Whether you'd like to exchange contacts for business or pleasure, Bump represents a quick, easy and, above all, entertaining way of swapping details.
